Community Health and Wellbeing
Supporting Healthier Lives in Our Community
Our Community Health and Wellbeing programme helps people understand their health, identify possible concerns early and access appropriate support.
We provide welcoming and accessible health activities for individuals and families across Barking and Dagenham, Redbridge, Havering, Newham and communities surrounding Chadwell Heath.
3 John 1:2 “Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you.”

Depending on the programme and available resources, our community health sessions may include:
-
Blood-pressure checks
-
Blood-glucose checks
-

General health and wellbeing information
-
Healthy eating and active-living guidance

-
Opportunities to speak with trained health personnel
Our aim is to help people become more aware of their health and encourage them to take positive, realistic steps towards healthier living.
Why Health Checks Matter
Some health conditions can develop without clear symptoms. High blood pressure and raised blood-glucose levels, for example, may not always be immediately noticeable.
A simple community health check can help someone become aware of a possible concern and encourage them to seek further advice from an appropriate healthcare professional.
Our checks are for awareness and early identification only. They do not provide a medical diagnosis or replace an appointment with a GP or other qualified healthcare professional.
Reducing Health Inequalities
We recognise that not everyone has the same access to health information and services. Language barriers, financial pressures, social isolation, cultural concerns and uncertainty about where to seek help can prevent people from receiving support.
Our programme brings basic health information and checks into a familiar community setting. We provide support in a friendly, respectful and non-judgemental way.
Everyone is welcome, irrespective of religion, race, gender, disability or background. You do not need to be a member of RCCG Rock of Redemption to attend.
Health and Wellbeing Activities
Alongside health checks, our programme may include:
-
Health-awareness talks
-
Healthy cooking and nutrition sessions
-
Physical activity and movement sessions
-
Mental wellbeing conversations
-
Family health activities
-
Information about local health services
-
Community wellbeing events
-
Support for older people and those at risk of isolation
Activities are designed to be practical, understandable and relevant to everyday life.
Your Privacy and Dignity
We treat every participant with dignity, sensitivity and respect. Personal health conversations and checks are conducted as privately as the setting allows. Participants are free to decline any check or activity. Where a result suggests that further attention may be needed, the person will be encouraged to contact an appropriate healthcare professional.
When Are Sessions Held?
Community Health and Wellbeing sessions are organised at different times throughout the year. Dates, available checks and registration details are announced in advance. Some sessions may require booking, while others may be available on a walk-in basis.
